Alexei Aigui
Violinist, Composer, Leader of the Ensemble 4'33''
Born in 1971, Moscow.
Education: Ippolitov-Ivanov State Musical Pedagogical Institute (violin class), GITIS – The Russian University of Theatre Arts (Production Faculty).
In 1994 founded the ENSEMBLE 4'33'', known also from other collaborations and projects as the duos with german pianist Dietmar Bonnen and French composer Pierre Bastien. His work comprises original compositions (modern fusions, contemporary chamber music, soundtracks) and interpretations on works of other composers (Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Weill).
Mixing his classical, jazz, prog culture with contemporary forms, Aigui creates interesting sounds, the emotional quality of which often echoes a deep relation to slavic folk lyricism.
Author of original film music (I Am Not Your Negro, Country Of The Deaf, The Fall Of The Empire, Wild Field, Je ne dis pas non, L'école du pouvoir, Moloch Tropical etc.)
Winner of the Russian Guild of Film Critics Award (White Elephant), Golden Aries Award, Nika Award and others.
