Russian historian. D.Sc. in History, Professor, Leading Researcher at the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Specialist on the problem of collaborationism during the Second World War.
Studied at the history department of the Novgorod State Pedagogical Institute; at the Herzen University; at the St. Petersburg State University.
From 1987 to 1990 he worked as an assistant at the Department of History and Political Economy of the Novgorod Polytechnic Institute. From 1993 to 2014 he worked as a senior lecturer, associate professor, professor at the Department of the History of The Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University. Since February 2014 he works as a leading researcher at the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Author of more than 300 scientific and popular science works.
