Svetlana Makeeva

Lecturer at the Faculty of History of the Lomonosov MSU, Senior Researcher at the State Institute of Art Studies of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation

Art historian, researcher of the history and theory of installation, Western contemporary art, Soviet unofficial art. PhD in Art History, lecturer at the Department of General Art History of the Faculty of History of Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov, senior researcher at the Sector of Contemporary Western Art of the State Institute of Art Studies.

Graduated from the Master's and postgraduate programs in the specialty "History of Arts" at the Faculty of History of the Lomonosov MSU. In 2017-2018, she worked as an assistant curator and coordinator of exhibition projects in the Department of Art and Interdisciplinary Programs of the National Center for Contemporary Art as part of the State Museum and Exhibition Center "ROSIZO". During her postgraduate studies, she completed an internship at the Department of Art History and Cultural Studies of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Copenhagen (2019), as well as in the Archive of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art (2020). Scholarship holder of the Danish Agency for International Education under the Agreement on Cultural Exchange between Russia and Denmark (2019).

In 2021, she defended her dissertation on the topic "Formation of Installation in the Art of the West and Russia in the Second Half of the Twentieth Century" at Lomonosov Moscow State University. Author of the book "The Birth of Installation: The West and Russia" (2023) awarded the "Zverev Art Prize / View. Interpretation. Position" in the nomination "Book on Contemporary Russian Art" (2024).

Member of the organizing committee of the international scientific conference "Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art" (Lomonosov Moscow State University - St. Petersburg State University - The State Hermitage Museum), member of the editorial board of the international scientific peer-reviewed publication "Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art". Regularly gives public lectures (Manezh Museum of Fine Arts, the Young Art Critics Club of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, etc.).
