The Jewish Museum invites you to a meeting with
Alena Yiv, the actress who played the main role in the film
Asia. Last year, the film received nine awards (including the Best Film Prize) of the Ophir Prize, Israel's most prestigious film award. The Russian premiere of the film takes place on April 23 within the Moscow International Film Festival. The film will be released since April 29 in Russian cinemas.
The world premiere of
Asia took place at the Tribeca Festival in New York. The film won three festival awards; one of them went to Shire Haas, best known for her role in the Netflix series Unorthodox. In "Asia" Shira Haas plays the daughter of the heroine of Alena Yiv.
At the meeting at the museum, Alena Yiv will tell not only about her work on
Asia, but also about what is happening in contemporary Israeli cinema in general. The actress will also answer questions about her career: before, Alena Yiv did not play much in films, but she worked as an assistant director and as stunt for famous Russian actresses on the set.
The meeting takes place within the framework of the festival
Women's Cinema of Israel, which is parallel program of the
Moscow International Film Festival. The screenings are organized by the Embassy of the State of Israel and are timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Israel and Russia.
