On 30th March 2016, Grammy-nominated producer, song-writer and artist Avicii (AKA Tim Bergling) announced that he was to quit touring – going from a mammoth XXX a year as one of the world’s highest grossing live music artists, to stopping entirely.
In an intimate portrait, Avicii’s journey will be told hrough True Stories, the eagerly awaited documentary following the superstar DJ’s life from his early beginnings, all the way to his chart-topping, global radio hits, and subsequent struggles with health.
The uncompromised documentary comes to cinemas around the world on Thursday 26th October, presented by Piece Of Magic as part of a very special one-off cinema event, also
presenting Avicii’s last ever performance at Ushuaia in Ibiza, filmed on 28th of August 2016.
Directed by Levan Tsikurishvili (Avicii on Tour), True Stories follows the release of Avicii’s much-anticipated follow up LP.
Up-close and intimate, the long form documentary shows him in different lights from mega homecoming shows in Stockholm in front of 80,000 people through to more intimate interviews where he gets personal on the illnesses that have plagued his career.
Featuring contributions from fellow artists such as Tiesto, David Guetta and Nile Rodgers, True Stories is a document and exploration of the taxing nature and pressures of the intensity of fame on artists, as much as it is a film for Avicii’s die-hard fans.
