On March 21, the House of Radio will host a screening of the film
“Maɬni: Towards the Ocean, Towards the Shore” as part of the AMFEST Film Festival. Director Sky Hopinka is a representative of the indigenous Indian people, exploring the culture of ancestors and modern Indians, a language preserving legends and heard less and less, as well as the memory of the earth, waves, crowns and roots of trees.
For the screening, film curator
Dasha Chernova prepared a lecture on the representation of the earth in cinema. The earth as soil in which shoots sprout, the earth as a home, a point on a map outlined by borders, the earth as a suffering body and the final point of the journey.
The lecturer will tell you how cinema captures and interprets nature in landscape and narrative films and how it gives it voice.
