The film festival is part of the Year of Germany in Russia. The festival program includes the films dedicated to aging issues and attitudes towards older people in today's world.
The growing interest in the topic of age and aging among filmmakers is a reaction to the gradual aging of society. This includes a wide range of issues: age-related diseases, long-term care for the elderly people, new life strategies for the period of
long old age, role models that society offers to older people,
generational justice, pension systems.
Astrid Vege, curator of the festival BLICK: “Demographically, Germany and Russia are developing similarly, and the aging of our societies poses many different questions for us. For example, how can we achieve equal rights and justice for different generations? How to grow old with dignity? What will happen to our desires and ideas about life? What will partnerships and other relationships look like? How will the issue of recognizing the value of elders be settled? .. "
All these issues, equally relevant for Russia and Germany, are reflected in the films of the Festival BLICK: HORIZONTE DES ALTERS | ONLINE through real human stories. After all, cinema is one of the most effective ways to initiate reflection on problems and public dialogue.
All films are shown in their original language with Russian subtitles.
