Born October 16, 1955 in Potsdam.
Shutov works in various techniques: from painting and sculpture to performances and installations. One of the pioneers of Russian new media art.
In 1987, he participated in the cult film "Assa" as an actor and artist.
In 2001, he participated in an exhibition in the Russian pavilion at the 49th Venice Biennale.
In 2002, he was nominated for the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the nomination "fine art". Sergei Shutov's works are in various museums and collections: in the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, etc.
